Your generosity will help us provide war widows in Queensland with an environment of friendship and mutual support, advocacy for current issues, access to information, referral andsupport. By contributing towards our work, you are honouring the sacrifices and struggles of war widows and their lost loved ones helping make a difference in their lives.
AWWQ has been able to continue supporting war widows due to generous bequests left to our organisation. If you are making a bequest, it is important that the correct entity is named in your Will.
Whatever the gift may be, it is important that the correct terminology is used. If you have already made a bequest, I encourage you to review your Will to ensure the gift can be properly administered. As you know, there has been a change of name and an amalgamation of the various companies which comprise the Australian War Widows (Queensland) and it is important that the correct entity is described.
The Board recommends the use of the following wording:
“I leave ____________ to Australian War Widows (Queensland) ABN 88 009 708 810 of Legacy House, 41 Merivale Street, South Brisbane in the State of Queensland absolutely for the general purposes of the said charity and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors”.
